Greetings!
I hope that you are doing well, your family is safe, and your power is back on - or coming back on soon! As we enter the last two months of this semester, I wanted to make everyone aware of several items. Mini Fall Virtual Concert Click here to view our Mini Fall Virtual Concert! While you will not see any video of your students, you will hear them. These virtual recordings include both digital & in-person students, digitally mixed together to create a virtual choir. Any mistakes you hear can probably be attributed to my editing skills. Why no videos? I no longer have the software / hardware set-up at school that I did at home during quarantine times, and am adapting like we are all to 2020. Enjoy! December 8 Concert – Update! I am in the process of creating plans for a socially distant in-person concert for December 8, as listed on the syllabus/concert calendar. This is open to both digital and in-person students. Please note that the Masterwork concert for November 12 is cancelled. Also, while the December concert traditionally includes our cluster middle schools, that will not be possible this year. We look forward to performing with our rising 9th grade students next year. Preliminary Plans: Dec. 7 - Dress rehearsal after school; done by 4:30pm (if not sooner) Dec. 8 - Concert recording after school, to start by 3pm. We will be done by 4:30pm, if not sooner. The concert will be streamed on eClass to families by Dec. 10. This concert will be video pre-recorded in-person. Both digital and in-person students may participate, as your music is the same regardless of in-person or digital instruction. For the rehearsal & concert, all students will be screened and have their temperature taken. Social distancing and masks will be required, even during filming/performing. We will utilize the commons to allow for spacing. Everyone needs to submit their concert intentions here by Wednesday, November 3. Parents – Interested in volunteering? Sign up through the same survey. Uniform: 2020-2021 Chorus t-shirt, non-ripped jeans, and tennis shoes/sneakers. Shirt available for pick-up in a week or so (please wait for my email). A final survey will be sent after Thanksgiving. Concert Shirts Our concert shirts have arrived, but need to be sorted. I’ll let you know when I’m ready to distribute! Didn’t order one through My Payments Plus? You must pay for chorus dues ($25) by Nov. 17 to receive a shirt in time. Look under ‘clubs.’ All-State Chorus & LGPE Plans are currently in the works for All-State Chorus auditions & LGPE. I will share more details as they are made available to me. Grades Is your student missing a recent assignment? Please check the parent portal for missing grades, and submit ASAP. Power out? Don’t stress. We’ll make things up next week. Digital Platforms Each student in chorus has access to our digital music education website called “Music First.” We are using this for sight-reading exercises, music theory, music composition, and more. Some assignments are being delivered through this platform to digital learners. On the gradebook, you should see a description where the assignment is located. If not, contact me and I’ll be happy to help. Have questions? Feel free to reach out to me. Musically, Mr. Still Comments are closed.
