BHS Chorus News

BHS Chorus News, DLD Edition

4/10/2020

Brookwood Highschool Chorus Families,

Well, this is weird.  I’ll just sum it up:  I miss our chorus students so very much.  I long to be in rehearsal with them and sing together, and greatly look forward to our return to our school, chorus room, and regular routine!

To the class of 2020:

I’m so sorry that your senior year changed drastically.  We are still going to have a senior song for graduation, and Camerata will sing as well!  I met with seniors via Zoom earlier this week to discuss our plans.  You can find information on eClass.

To everyone:

There is joy during this challenging time.  Just watch our first virtual choir that was released today, and connect with BHS Chorus on Facebook for more music!

With all in-person performances cancelled for this school year, I am planning for at least one more of these virtual performances with the entire chorus… stay tuned!  Bear with me and my developing video editing skills.  :)

Grading
Parents should have received a progress report for chorus via email today.  To make assignments easy to identify, each assignment in the gradebook is labeled with a “DLD#” corresponding to the digital learning day the assignment was to be submitted.

If a grade is missing (NTI), please have your student complete the assignment.  There are a variety of assignments, from video part checks, online sight-reading/singing, and discussion posts.  Only grades prior to spring break are reflected in the progress report so that students may catch up on grades for this week.  Students who submit a grade later than the week in which it was due are asked to follow directions posted on the chorus eClass page so that I am alerted to their late submission.

Our LGPE trip performance from earlier in March has been converted to the performance final, and should serve to benefit students’ grades, and also eliminates the need for an additional performance final in May.  There will still be a written final exam.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me.

Musically,
Mr. Still
