Greetings Parents and Students,

We've had a fantastic month of August singing and learning!  Here are a few things to take "note" of:

Chorus Tailgate
All chorus students are invited to our chorus tailgate this Friday, September 6, from 6-7pm outside the theatre lobby near the B parking lot/drop-off area.  This time is immediately before the first home football game this season, which starts at 7:30pm.  We will be serving free hot dogs and macaroni and cheese for chorus students.  Students, please RSVP here by Tuesday, September 3 so we can plan accordingly.  If you are attending the game, make sure to purchase a ticket.  The chorus tailgate event is only for chorus students; students must be picked up or go to the game after the chorus tailgate.

Fall Concert
Our fall concert is coming soon - September 24, at 7pm in the BHS Theatre.  Students will need to report in concert uniform for warm-up by 5:50pm.  The theatre will open for audience seating by 6:40pm.  Required dress rehearsal will be after school in the chorus room on September 23, from 2:30 to 4pm.  Pick up will be in the car rider drop-off area.  

Uniforms
Students who ordered a uniform should receive them in the next 1-2 weeks.

BPAB (Brookwood Performing Arts Boosters)
This year, we are asking all students to cover a $30 program fee.  Please pay by September 3 so we can budget appropriately.  Make checks payable to BPAB (not BHS).  Please include the form with your payment.  This money will be directly used for our students, paying for choral music, accompanists, our show, events, and more.  If you are able to donate beyond the program fee, we would be grateful for that as well!  Please read for more details, and the benefits of becoming a member of our boosters.  BONUS:  Reserved concert seating for memberships at the DYNAMIC (2 seats) and VOLUME (4 seats) levels!  Includes all chorus memberships made for the 2019-2020 school year.

Honor Ensembles
Letters were sent home with students who were accepted into various honor ensembles; more details regarding district honor chorus will be sent home mid September.  Honors Chorale members can find their rehearsal schedule online on eClass or the chorus calendar.

Greetings BHS Chorus Parents and Students!

I am so excited about the 2019-2020 school year and what we will accomplish together!  It was great to meet many of you at orientation last week, and I look forward at meeting parents at our concerts and events over the next several months.  I am delighted to work with such an exceptional group of student musicians, and am thrilled about the great things we will do together.

Several important pieces of information went home today.

A few quick notes:
*  Make sure to review and return the syllabus.
​*  Dress rehearsal dates for each concert will be announced very soon; I am waiting on a few more pieces of information before I release them.  They will be added to the calendar and announced.
*  Please bring in a ream of white copy paper for class supplies.

Uniform
See uniform links above.  The best way to pay is online via mypaymentsplus.com.  Please look under the "clubs" section, and choose the appropriate selection.  If you pay via check, please make checks payable to Brookwood High School.  Deadline to pay:  August 21, 2019.  We will work on sizing in class - stay tuned for details.  Some students may still have their middle school uniform, which may be similar to our high school uniform.  Have students bring me a picture (or the uniform) so I can check no later than August 9.  I'll keep you updated if they're acceptable.

Extra Events:  All-State, Honor Chorus, Choral Council, Chorale, Camerata, etc.
Information regarding these events / groups will be posted on eClass.  Auditions for All-State, Honor Chorus, Chorale, Camerata, and more will be announced soon.  There's more going on than just what happens during the school day for students who are interested.  Stay tuned!

Communication
Mr. Still communicates to all parents primarily through email newsletters and eClass. Please make sure your GCPS portal account email is accurate. All email changes are handled through the front office – please call the front office for exact procedures. In addition, you can receive occasional text message reminders for upcoming concerts and events by signing up for the free remind service.

The chorus website (brookwoodhschorus.weebly.com) provides basic information about the chorus program and contains the chorus newsletter for parents. All course related content, including (but not limited to) interactive lessons, study guides and permission forms, are available on your child’s eClass course page for chorus.
