ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Carter Still is the choral director at Brookwood High School in Gwinnett County. He received his Bachelor of Music Education degree with an emphasis in voice from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina in 2008. He earned a Master’s in Music Education from the University of Georgia in 2015. Mr. Still has served as the choral director for Brookwood High since the 2019-2020 school year. Under his direction, Brookwood Chorus students have represented our community at GMEA district and All-State honor choirs, as well as the Governor's Honors Program. Brookwood choruses under his direction consistently earn Superiors at LGPE (Large Group Performance Evaluation). Previously, Mr. Still established the chorus program at Bay Creek Middle School when the school opened in 2009, and under his leadership the program grew from 75 to 300 students. His students represented BCMS in GMEA honors and All-State choirs, and his choral groups consistently received Superior ratings at LGPE. He was named teacher of the year at Bay Creek for the 2011-2012 school year, served as the GCPS lead teacher for middle school chorus, and served as the district 13 choral chair for GMEA. In addition to serving as a choral director, Mr. Still has conducted multiple honor choirs across the state of Georgia. Mr. Still is a member of the National Association for Music Education, the Georgia Music Educators Association, and the American Choral Directors Association. He is also a lead teacher for High School Chorus in GCPS. A native of Gwinnett county, Mr. Still lives with his wife, Chrissy, and two children in Lilburn, Georgia.
