Brookwood Chorus News 8/7: Welcome to 2026-2027!

Brookwood Chorus Students and Families, 

Welcome to the new school year!  I hope your student has enjoyed the first few days as we determine voice parts and start singing!

A few notes to begin...

Atlanta Braves Game Performance
All Brookwood Chorus students are invited to perform on Saturday, September 12 at Truist Park!  This event is optional, but fun.

The last day to order Braves tickets in our section is 11:59pm on August 27, 2026.  Remember, all singers must have our performing t-shirt for the Braves game. 

Chorus business items to start the year:

• Chorus Dues: $45   All students should pay the $45 chorus dues that cover music, accompanist fees, events, and so much more.  Click here to learn more and pay dues.  Contact Mr. Still with any questions or concerns. Pay by the 8/28 deadline to receive a free chorus car magnet!  On August 29, 2026, dues increase to $55.  

 Would you like to sponsor another student's dues?  Please write "sponsor" in the student name field.  Thank you! 

• The Brookwood Performing Arts Booster Association (BPAB) assists the chorus through volunteers and financial support. BPAB encourages everyone to become a member and provide additional support to the choral program.  BPAB is an invaluable resource of parent volunteers that assists the chorus program.  When you join BPAB as a member and donate, you are able to access additional benefits and recognition!  Please contact Mr. Still or [email protected] with questions.  Does your company do a corporate match for non-profits?  Please reach out to us, and we can help you get set up!  You can also donate dues for other students.  Learn more about BPAB:  bpaperforms.com  The donation link is available here.

 

• Chorus formal uniform requirements & purchase details are available here. All uniforms will be purchased via our supplier's online store, which will be specific for Brookwood Chorus.  The deadline to place orders is August 25, 2026.  I am in need of a parent to help with measurements - please email me if you are able to assist with in-class measuring.  

 

• Optional chorus spirit wear orders are due by August 22!  Click here to order.

 

• The syllabus is available here and on Google Classroom.   Students are required to submit acknowledgement of the syllabus via Google Classroom.  

   

• Concert dates are listed in the syllabus.  Please make note of them and add to your calendar.  You can also access our digital calendar here!

Coming Soon...
7th Period Chorus / Cantabile
- After applying and submitting recordings from last year's performances, I am excited to announce that Cantabile students are traveling to Georgia Southern University October 26-27 to compete in the Georgia Southern Invitational. All 7th period students are performing, and will spend the night at the Holiday Inn Express in Statesboro, GA.  Students will pay a trip fee to cover the cost of the hotel (roughly $50) + food. Students who elect to take the PSAT will need to make it up the next day we return (October 28), as the PSAT administration date is October 27.  More details to come soon!  

2nd Period Tenor/Bass & Cantabile Chorus
- 2nd and 7th period chorus classes are combining with the Brookwood Chamber Orchestra for an exciting performance in early November.  These performances were previously put on hold as one of Brookwood's Orchestra teachers, Mrs. Megan Kendall, fought against cancer the past several years and passed away this past June.  We look forward to honoring her memory and legacy at Brookwood.
 
Optional Events/Activities

• Auditions for District Honor Chorus, All-State, and Honors Chorale will begin August 10, and run for several days.  If your student is interested, they should sign up for an afterschool audition next week. Auditions will be roughly five minutes long, and students may leave as soon as their audition is complete.  Dates & details for GMEA ensembles are available here.

 

• The chorus tailgate will be on the steps of the Maroon Gym Lobby on Friday, August 28, from 5:45-6:45pm. This event is free for chorus students! Chorus members will enjoy food and time to socialize before the first home football game of the year. Parents, if you can help volunteer, please click here.

• We are traveling to Nashville, TN in March of 2027!  This optional trip, open to all chorus students, will take place March 31-April 2, 2027. More details, including a parent meeting, are coming soon!
